Apology and Resolution

Zera stumbles slightly as she tries to run down the Eastern beach, fighting tears. Stronger she may be, but she is far from sure-footed and the sandy ground is difficult.
It is some time before she stops, breathing raggedly, and sinks down onto a rock far back from the waves.
He had never sounded like that before. Never.
And she had- Stupid. She knows how important his music is, and still she had interrupted, and...
She wraps her arms around herself. She doesn't dare go back.

He felt no need to say anything at all. This was apology and resolution enough for him.
